Been a messy few weeks. Had to deal with post-holiday blues, mixed in with some added homesickness, which I should have had 2 years ago. Hit me and Nuni so bad. We are both slowly dragging ourselves back to reality. Hence the lack of updates this little while.
I'm now using Poser to attempt controlling a 3d model of a woman presenter, for a corporate video. A seemingly simple project, this. One corporate video, with the host speaking English. The task, replace the English with Malay audio. This means re-rendering the model, with special lip-synching software to do the hard bit. Oh, and incorporate all the new animation into the composite video, supplied to us by the client. Then add some sound effects, music, plus all the Malay text.
Poser is very good, but the interface really narks me off sometimes. It's also very slow on my 1ghz PC, so I've been using that to do my modelling, and boss' 2.4ghz dual processor monstrosity to do the rendering. I'm on the last major rendering session now - 12 seconds of animation takes 4 hours on this beast, but after this one, the remaining renders are just a few seconds each, so will be just an hour apiece.
It's not just any client either; it's the government agency responsible for dishing out multimedia and communications licenses to Malaysian and foreign companies. So they are a little bit influential. Hope they like my work, that's all I can say. Have to come in Saturday, to do a quick render for the client, who is in that morning. Darn these working weekends...
