Arse! The video was cancelled by the plants public affairs department. So the planned presentation to the VIP took place without my video taking pride of place. So that's why boss was annoyed. A highly wasted trip. And a lot of time spent for nothing. Still, I have been told that they will pay up for services rendered, otherwise its breach of contract I think. Nevermind, the video that never was can still be viewed from my site. And I can confirm that all three of them work properly. I am now working feverishly on a CD-ROM, with only a timescale of 2 days! That plus a lot of scanning, plus 2 VideoCDs to recapture into Premiere. The small problem being that the VideoCDs are in NTSC format, not PAL (Malaysia is a PAL country). Considering the CDs came from the country's state owned oil company, this is somewhat of a surprise! Back to work...
Ooooh. Boss came back this afternoon, not very happy. Didn't say much, except that the video was not shown at the VIP presentation, and that he was very cheesed off right now. I'll know more tomorrow. What a bummer...
Presently, the back of my neck, stretching up to the rear of my head, possesses a strange throbbing sensation. I can only blame it on self-imposed stress, as a result of the past few months. Since my last entry, many more enhancements were made to the video, with which to impress our client further. However, they may still be happy with the original Friday 13th version. It remains to be seen whether they prefer the enhanced version, which contains some added effects (maps, step-by step guide to production process etc.) or stick with the original. Despite the stress imposed on me the past week, the result is a much better video. Having spent Sunday at work putting the final touches together, the result is now on VCD, DVD, and even credit card CD. Tuesday 24th marks the visit of some VIP to the plant, I think the mayor (Mentri Besar) of Kuantan, so this enhanced version will be shown there, along with copies to distribute to senior figures also in attendance. I won't be presen
Hooray! Video finished today. Put onto 3 VCDs and 3 DVDs (2 of each she keeps, the remainder are our copies), plus an interactive CD-ROM thrown in for the client, who, as I write, is being taken to KL Airport for her flight back to the east coast. I'm going to try and stick a portion of it online as part of my CV. Wonder how long that will be? There will be more to come, slight changes here and there, but since the invoices went with the discs, it practically means the job is done. So there, my first proper stint at video editing. And I've come to acknowledge that it is an awful job. Very draining, very stressful. Right now, if I so much as come within 5 feet of an editing machine, I'll break out in a cold sweat and undergo a panic attack! I'm off home now for some much needed rest and relaxation. Oh, and I skipped lunch. I fancy a KFC, some real poison that is. Hunger can be a dangerous thing...
Currently in the final stages of the MTBE video, I've been introduced to the Canopus video card, allowing me to do much better captioning and animation, than with the last machine, which was fitted with a Matrox 2000. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, and Matrox came first, explaining why we have more than one product here at work. It's still laborious work, and having to hear and see the same clips over and over again does your head in. Once this one is finished, its on to either the racing website, or something for Malaysian Oxygen - a CBT CD-ROM. Sounds like watching paint dry, I'll find out sure enough whether that is the case. With all this work, I'm aching to update my site. Time is not kind to me these days.
