I'm now confirmed in my employment, so I can tell you a little bit about what I do. I'm a webmaster for eCosway.com Sdn Bhd, which is an e-commerce company, and offshoot of Cosway (M) Sdn Bhd, a direct-sales marketing company, of 25 years standing. The company sells all manner of products through catalogues, and you get discounts as a member. eCosway is the online version, selling some of the same products via the Internet, therefore to a much wider audience. You can't view the main eCosway site unless you are a member, but I've designed these sites already, with more to come. There isn't much to show really, most of what I'm doing is behind the scenes, and is generally aimed at upgrading the whole online presence. The whole software behind it is in-house, no third-party tools have been used for the back-end stuff, but we use Studio MX 2004. One of the interesting aspects of the work done here is the requirement to have the site in not only English, but
I've finished performing site maintenance, and have thrown in two extra pages to the CD-ROM section, and expanded one of my articles within the Web section. The two CD-ROM mounted Acorn User (December 97 and November 98) magazine covers have been scanned ( here and here ), while my published article on the production of one of the CDs has had its accompanying diagram and screenshot scanned and placed within the online version. I'd been meaning to do this for some time, so I am glad to have finally got round to it. On another matter, I've recently purchased Derek Franklin's Macromedia Flash MX: Creative Web Animation and Interactivity , published by Macromedia Press. What I've glanced through so far is very good, and I'm really hoping to start getting into the intricacies of Flash MX design and production. Some of my forthcoming results are bound to spill over onto my website!
Just made slight edits to the Atomz Search template, as that was also out of date. I think I've done all the templates now. I'm gonna go through the site during Friday, and clean out any broken links or strangeness that's been overlooked. I've written a tutorial on how to achieve a particular effect in Fireworks MX. I'll have it uploaded soonish. I developed the technique for a recent project, so it has real world value. I'm gonna need a long rest this weekend. We just moved house last weekend, and didn't recover from it yet...
As I write this, I'm uploading revised pages of the site, folder by folder to the server. I've a few folders to go, before I'm done for the day. I've now revised the Blogger.com templates as well. Found several spurious name attributes in some IMG tags. Shaved some more bytes off the site as a result. I'll still be tinkering until the end of Friday, with the end result of a faster, more efficient site.
I've done some site maintenance to the Get Netted and Cross Platform websites, and discovered that I can still use one of Easyspace's small ad-banners. I'll get this integrated into the rest of the site within the next day, which will mean less junk to download, and a more tasteful banner to boot. You can see it by visiting any Get Netted page.
