Been a messy few weeks. Had to deal with post-holiday blues, mixed in with some added homesickness, which I should have had 2 years ago. Hit me and Nuni so bad. We are both slowly dragging ourselves back to reality. Hence the lack of updates this little while. I'm now using Poser to attempt controlling a 3d model of a woman presenter, for a corporate video. A seemingly simple project, this. One corporate video, with the host speaking English. The task, replace the English with Malay audio. This means re-rendering the model, with special lip-synching software to do the hard bit. Oh, and incorporate all the new animation into the composite video, supplied to us by the client. Then add some sound effects, music, plus all the Malay text. Poser is very good, but the interface really narks me off sometimes. It's also very slow on my 1ghz PC, so I've been using that to do my modelling, and boss' 2.4ghz dual processor monstrosity to do the rendering. I'm on the last m
I'm now back in Malaysia, after a two week holiday in the UK. What?! you may cry. Why trade the sunnier climate for a wintry one? Well, for that very reason. You see, constant heat and humidity, not to mention pollution, can get to you after two years. I had the opportunity to catch up with my old boss , and was glad to hear that they were going strong, and seeking expansion in other countries, including India at one point. It didn't work out, but it proved how things had changed since I was there. Back then, as a new company, it was difficult taking on new clients, without a track record. We almost didn't get to leave Heathrow for our return journey, owing to the increased security surrounding perceived 'threats' about planes being shot down by extremist Muslim groups.
